It was not any particular enthusiasm for items on the agenda or the need to get away from Kath suffering from a nasty cold that saw me arrive in St Andrews 25 minutes early for the PCC. I put it down to my lack of planning.

With thoughts of dark, dismal, cold and wet nights in our future the PCC decided that it did not welcome another PCC meeting that ran into our bed time, and for the first time in my memory (which I have to admit is a bit dodgy) the meeting was set for a 10.30 a.m. start.

For some months now your PCC has been meeting at the back of St Andrew’s, a space I personally find most convenient as it gives me space to spread out the various bits of paper so vital, but rarely looked at, that I carry to each meeting. Sadly some of the lights at the back of the Church have recently failed and we moved into the somewhat more cramped area of the Church office.

A dark and dismal evening for the PCC was brightened by the vicar arriving at the meeting with a large box of chocolates under his arm which he placed on the table. With 11 of the possible 12 members present they would not go far but it was a nice thought even if it did take him until Item 10 to open them.

It was the hottest night of the year so far when your PCC met in St Andrew’s on the evening of Monday the 19th July 2021. There was a full agenda for the meeting and following an opening prayer business got underway.
